Boat Licence Victoria (RTO 22587, "BLV", "we") complies with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains, in brief, what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

Assessment	Quiz scores, ID verification, pass/fail result, Zoom recording from supervised test
Technical	IP address, device, browser, pages visited (via cookies & logs)

2. How we use it

run the course, verify age, schedule tests and send certificates;
process payments and refunds;
meet legal duties to Safe Transport Victoria and VicRoads;
keep the Site secure and improve its performance;
send optional marketing you have opted into (easy unsubscribe).

We do not sell personal data or use automated decisions with legal effect.

3. Who we share it with

Government & regulators – Safe Transport Victoria, VicRoads, ATO when required.
Service providers – payment processor, cloud host, email/SMS sender, video-conference platform, analytics tool.
Advisers & courts – when we need legal, accounting or to comply with the law.

Some providers store data overseas (e.g., USA, EU, Japan). Before sharing we contractually require APP-level protection. By using the Services you consent to these transfers.

4. Security

We use encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access, multi-factor log-ins and regular security testing. No online system is perfect but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

When no longer needed we erase or anonymise the data.

Access or correct your information;

We answer within 30 days. We may keep data we are legally required to hold.
